An opening in the roof of the mouth, cleft palate happens because of some failure in the embryonic development of the child in the mother’s womb. The failure can be caused by many factors, which can be genetic or environmental. Although ultrasound and other medical techniques can detect this malfunction even at an early age, surgery is still inevitable once the baby is born. In addition to that, much effort is still necessary because these children might have speaking difficulties if all forms of repair cannot be done right away.
That is the reason why there is a need to be properly educated and oriented when one is an expectant mother. But for some which has already crossed the line without the right guidance, it might already be too late. Some have even taken Topamax while being clueless of the birth defects it poses to the unborn child. Thanks to the presence of O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath, there is still something that can be done with it. A hopeful Topamax lawsuit will be on its way as soon as they can be contacted through O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949.

This is a really good post about the potential risks of Topamax. If a pregnant woman, or woman who may become pregnant takes this medication, it greatly increases the chance that the baby will suffer from the birth defects cleft lip and cleft palate. The FDA has advised that women who are or may become pregnant not take Topamax for the safety of their child. Just something to be aware of – this can lead to tragic health risks if an unexpected pregnancy occurs. Regards, TL
