OCTOBER 22 (Wednesday)

Hubby was up so early because he was scheduled to take his driving test at this school owned by a Vietnamese. As for me, I opted to stay home. 9am is way too early for my wake up time and for sure the husband will be late for his test if I keep him waiting. At 10am, I got a “distress call.” Hubby told me the school was still close. He tried calling the owner but he couldn’t reach him so he asked me to go online and look for other driving schools here in SLC. He can’t afford to waste time. He needs to get a driver’s license before Saturday to comply with the bank’s requirements. If not, they will add a collateral insurance on our auto loan to protect their interest and that in turn will increase our monthly payments. Good thing though, I found this school that accepts walk-in clients and I was able to schedule a driving test that same day at 5pm. So we went there, hubby took the test and… failed. The instructor was very particular with head checks and hubby lacked on that department. We found out later from our friends that when you drive here, you really need to do head checks and not just rely on you side mirrors. And if you’re taking the test, you have to exaggerate it. One friend of ours even got a ticket from the traffic police because he didn’t do a head check. He reasoned out that it was pretty late (11pm) and there wasn’t any cars that time so there’s no need to do a head check but then it’s what the law dictates so he still got a ticket for that.
